The longer you run, the faster Squirtle moves. Hitting a wall, swimming, or suddenly turning the opposite direction kills your speed momentum.

the goal of the speed run is to complete the game as fast as possible. If you get hit by Ash Ketchum, you will be returned to the Pokeball and lose the round.
