DEVLOG #5
Long time no see!, I apologize for the lack of dev vlogs, I’ve returned to working on my youtube channel so it’s hard to fit devlogging with animating and working on the game, but rest assured, even if there are no devlogs, I am still working on this game! Let’s begin with the updates.
First, a week after the previous devlog, the game’s file actually got corrupt and I could no longer open it, thankfully I have been working with flash for almost 15 years now so I anticipated this happening, I email myself a copy of the game file every week.
There was still an issue though, for some reason the week that it got corrupted, there hadn’t been a backup emailed file for 3 weeks, so if I downloaded the back up file I would’ve lost a lot of progress still. I was distraught, but I was not going to give up, I researched and researched on ways to save a corrupt file, none of the options were working, until I found a way to decompile the previous swf file.
For those who don’t know, an swf file is basically an exported version of the game file, but it’s not editable, so by decompiling it, I was able to make it editable, and with a few tweaks here and there, I was able to successfully get my corrupted file back!

You can now walk off screen to open the minimap
I now coded the minimap, and my goal with the minimap will be to allow for more exploration and free roaming, you’ll be able to find hidden mountains and such on the side if you choose so, and I think I really like that concept about rpg games so I decided to add it in. There will also be rare spawns in the minimap.

Now, every time you begin a session, the game will open with a cutscene of the episode number and title that you’re currently in, (titles will change depending on what your choices were)
The demo will only include the first episode.

3d intro (made in blender)
I also started working a bit on a second intro in blender, just to see if I like it or not, I’d love to hear what you guys think. I may or may not use it.
Well, that’s it! it feels good to be back, and I hope you guys also enjoyed the return, I will see you guys every monday from now on(hopefully until the game’s demo releases later this year)
