DEVLOG #6
Wow, two years gap, my apologies.
I had to take a pause on this project and focus on raising my income for a bit.
I’m now at a point where I can work on my Youtube channel AND work on the game, and still make the income that I’d like making.
So enough talking, let’s get to what’s new!
First thing I decided to work on, is add placeholder spot for every unlockable character, it makes things easier for me to just add their scripts now, instead of going back and confusing myself

Yup, all of these frames at the top are characters that can be unlocked and played with.
My goal is for players to choose the right build/character combination, with each characters having unique abilities.
I also started adding more content to the tutorial level, you can now play a test game of “football catch” if you want to test out a few of the mechanics, it’s completely optional, of course.

There’s also an alternative “Kitchen” game where you’ll learn your controls, but it’s up to chance whether you get the kitchen game or the football game.
The reason is, I want every playthrough to feel different, so not only does your dialogue and game play affect future gameplay, but there are also parts where you get a chance to do one thing, and another playthrough will have a different thing. It just adds more to the illusion.
Moving on to the next thing I added:
You can now actually earn XP out side of battle, and it displays on top of your character.

For example: completing the football tutorial (by jump catching the football) will earn you 50 XP, almost half of the XP needed to get level 2.
And since I added out-of-battle XP, I decided to add out-of-battle leveling up as well!

I even coded in “carry over” XP, that way if you had 2 XP left before leveling up, and you earn 50 xp, you will still level up and have 48 xp.
And now for the last thing I added:
EATING!

To be specific, you can now eat and drink in the outside world. Depending on the item you chose to use/eat/drink, you will gain different stats.
For example: a sandwich gives 10 HP
and orange juice gives 10 BP
the higher your level, the more your HP/BP, so eating a sandwich won’t be as useful, but you’ll also get better items!

Here’s a quick preview of the currently available items.
That’s it for now, I’m planning on posting new updates every sundays, so be sure to subscribe and return next week! I can’t wait for you all to play this game.
